Milan will feature a new font for the Champions League

Since Serie A - as of the 2020/21 season - introduced a single font for all teams, clubs have also used that font for international matches in the Champions, Europa and Conference League. While the Spanish and English clubs, just to name the two main European leagues, took the field with fonts made specifically for international matches, the Italians had chosen the opposite path, renouncing an important distinctive character of the individual kits. The fonts in fact give identity and complete the design project behind the shirts, and this is what AC Milan seems to want to focus on. For the next Champions League, they will once again adopt a special font, which can be seen online in the Rossoneri's store.

From what can be seen, the name and numbers of Pioli's players recall the identity that the club has been using for all its graphics since the rebranding in 2019, when the Milan Pulse font, created by English studio DixonBaxi, was unveiled. The choice of fonts in recent years has perhaps been an aspect that has been undervalued by Italian clubs when constructing the aesthetics of their jerseys, at least compared to other distinctive elements of the game uniforms. The Rossoneri's new shirts with the Champions League font will tie in with this season's results and the memories of the fans, it is not yet certain if the numbers will retain the colours chosen for the Serie A shirts, in the meantime the debut will certainly take place at the first match of group F against Newcastle. All that remains is to wait if other Italian clubs will unveil new fonts for European matches, for now from Inter, Napoli, Lazio, Roma, Atalanta and Fiorentina no anticipations have arrived.
