Nike made the US jersey with a World Cup star? Seems like the American brand had high hopes for Pulisic & co.

Recent reports, confirmed by the well-known website Footy Headlines, are bringing out an interesting story about the USMNT and their trip to Qatar this past winter.

It turns out that Nike - the team’s official kit supplier - purposely produced and stored a number of US jerseys with a star on top of the USA Soccer logo, which, as we all know, indicates a World Cup victory. This suggests that Nike was preparing for an eventual Qatar triumph for Pulisic and co., but did anyone really think they would win? After all, the odds of that happening were less than 1%, according to bookmakers.

News about this “mistake” broke out when a fan who had ordered a normal jersey received one with the unexpected star stitched on.

It is likely that Nike simply wanted to avoid chaos and be prepared for anything, even a very improbable US victory. Or maybe, they knew something we did not.
