Twenty-five years have passed since the 1997/98 season, and looking at it today through the eyes of a Chelsea fan that seems like the beginning of an era that brought the Blues among the world's top clubs. In fact, it was in that season that the Chelsea of Gianluca Vialli, Gianfranco Zola and Roberto Di Matteo won the Cup Winners' Cup in the final against Stuttgart, and that success inspired the new Home shirt presented by the London club and Nike right now. The blues' jersey is a celebration of the 1990s as the beginning of a glorious history, drawing on all the aesthetic imagery of that decade even in the campaign shots, in which posters of rap stars of the time, CDs and the slogan 'It's a 90's thing' can be seen.

The jersey is traditionally blue, as are the shorts, and the link to the 1997/97 season is made explicit through the iridescent treatment of the swoosh and crest, which embellish the design. One peculiarity is certainly that Chelsea unveiled the jersey without sponsors, as they have not yet agreed to replace 3, and this also seems to be the reason why the jersey is available on pre-order but will only be officially available in stores from 16 August. A reference to the jerseys of 25 years ago is in the yellow, black and white sleeve border, which replicates the collar of the version produced at the time by Umbro. In the launch campaign, as well as players from the men's and women's first team, cameos by old Chelsea glories include Dennis Wise, the former captain who lifted that unforgettable trophy in Stockholm for all Chelsea fans.
