After the success of the first edition, the Kappa Cup returns, and to a new city. The second edition will open in Bari on 4 May and then take place in Naples and Milan on 18 and 25 May. The teams of WeGoing.Sound, Vita lenta and LC23, which best represent the creativity, tradition and aesthetics of Bari, will compete on the pitch in the triangular match. For the occasion, the jerseys have been designed by Leo Colacicco, founder and designer of the streetwear-inspired brand LC23, which has collaborated with Kappa in the last two seasons to create two special jerseys that sold out immediately.

Drawing on his experience with the brand, Colacicco has transformed his team's jerseys into a canvas on which he tells the story of one of Bari's most iconic locations, the Petruzzelli Theatre, the fourth largest in Italy. Inaugurated in 1903, the opera house with its characteristic horseshoe shape was partially destroyed by an arson attack in 1991, but it remains one of the city's cultural landmarks. Colacicco therefore decided to honour it in the jerseys for the Kappa Cup with a sublimation print of the façade on the movement jersey, while the red seats of the Cavea were used for the goalkeeper's jersey.

For the Vita lenta team, the well-known IG profile that tells of a quieter and more serene life away from the usual hustle and bustle, Colacicco chose a design that fits Vita lenta's well-defined aesthetic. The movement's jersey features an image from Italian tradition, the façade of an early 20th century palace with laundry hung out to dry. The goalkeeper's jersey, on the other hand, features a photo of a fisherman looking out to sea with his back to the rocks. Two ways of telling a different way of spending the day, which the Kappa Cup also wants to interpret.

The third team in the field is WeGoing.Sound, founded by DJ Sgamo, who has returned to his hometown to promote all the positive energies that are hidden in the capital and that sometimes find it difficult to come out. Sgamo himself told us, "It is a true blessing to return to my old neighbourhood and be able to call it home again. That's why I am honoured to announce that we are bringing the Kappa Cup tournament to the place where I was born and raised, and that I get to be a part of designing a jersey that has the essence of hip-hop in it". In fact, the jersey is directly inspired by the jerseys worn by Biggie and Tupac in the early 90s, and it's no coincidence that the collaboration between Supreme and Coogi comes out on the day of the tournament of all days.

The first leg of the Kappa Cup will take place on 4 May in Bari at the Levante Sports Centre. You can follow the tournament on the official website here.
