Kappa Cup returns for a second edition

Milan, Naples and Bari will be the new stages of the Kappa five-a-side football triangle

Kappa Cup returns for a second edition Milan, Naples and Bari will be the new stages of the Kappa five-a-side football triangle

After the success of the first edition, which brought together and celebrated the communities and creativity of the participating cities, the Kappa Cup is in better shape than ever to deliver its idea of five-a-side football. Not the little brother of eleven-a-side football, a scaled-down version of the world's most popular sport, but a real culture consisting of weekly gatherings, changing teams as needed and a get-together after the showers. It is precisely this ritual, where for a few hours there is only the ball, the pitch and the friends in your life, that Kappa wants to celebrate with a new edition in three major Italian cities: Bari, Naples and Milan.

The three stages have been chosen to underline the football and cultural identity that has always characterised Kappa's work, which does not stop within the green rectangle. Thus, each date will feature three teams belonging to communities, artistic and cultural collectives that animate and define the identity of the city, welding the relationship between sport and territory through the most beautiful game.

Each team will also wear jerseys made exclusively by local fashion designers in collaboration with Kappa using the iconic Kombat template to make the tournament even more special. Bari's jerseys were designed by Leo Colacicco, founder of LC23, those of the Naples match by Marcello Pipitone, while Milan's jerseys were designed by Nicoletta Lo Monaco, founder and creative director of Become One. In recent years, football shirts have become true fashion items and Kappa wants to make them the stars of the event, highlighting their aesthetic and cultural importance.

The triangular matches will be played in three 45-minute games divided into two halves of 22 minutes and 30 seconds, at the end of which the winning team will be determined. Before, during and after the games, DJs and musicians from the same communities represented on the pitch will liven up the sidelines, taking turns at the desks and accompanying the post-match aperitifs and customary beers. The first city to play is Bari on 4 May at the Levante Sports Centre in Via Caldarola, 6. The second game is scheduled for 18 May at the Istituto Sacro Cuore in Corso Europa 84, while the last game will be in Milan on 25 May.

You can follow the entire tournament on the dedicated website. Here, the results of the different stages, photo reports and the jerseys of the teams involved will be uploaded as soon as they take place.
