At Royal Portrush, in Northern Ireland, the 148th Open Championship, the fourth and last of the golf season, takes place from July 18 to 21. For the occasion, Stone Island has joined forces again with Nike, creating a jacket and a crew neck that will be worn among the 18 holes of the tournament.

The coastal landscape and precarious weather conditions are great elements of charm that accompany this event, which will challenge the best players of the circuit, including Rory McIlroy, the protagonist of the collection's advertising campaign. As stated by Kelly Tweeden, Vice President of Nike Golf / Tennis / Skateboarding, “Knowing that the conditions during the tournament can change quickly, and can be quite challenging, we wanted to focus on outerwear, as experts in creating product that performs as well as it looks, Stone Island was a natural partner in finding the best solutions."

The new collection is designed specifically for sports at the highest levels and is the result of a great study on the movements and needs of individual golfers. The challenge was to optimize performance, providing attention to details that enhance performance during the tournament. The outer layer in cotton satin is in fact combined with a breathable and weather-resistant membrane, which combined with particular fibers promote breathability and act to block heat while maintaining optimal body temperature during play. 

A partnership between Stone Island and Nike, which is reborn after the success of recent seasons, but the big news for the Italian brand is that of having created products specifically for the field, in particular for what Carlo Rivetti, Creative Director and President of Stone Island, called "one of the noblest sports in the world".

In a discipline as elegant as golf, in fact, the innovative approach, the colors, and finishes typical of the DNA of the brand founded by Massimo Osti give an even more fascinating touch. 

 

The garments will debut during the Open at Royal Portrush from July 18th to 21st. The two colorways of the jacket (grey and blue) and the three of the crewnecks (grey, blue and yellow) will release globally July 25.
