That 2019/2020 will be the b debut season on Manchester City shirts, after years of Nike sponsorship. The Citizens today officially presented the Home and Away kits, inspired in an unusual way by the history and the youthful artistic and musical culture of the city of Manchester, in particular the movement spread by the night club "The Haçienda", which launch artists like the Chemical Brothers and inspired bands like Oasis, Blur and Kasabian.

Kit Home

The City Blue color is still the protagonist of the new 2019/2020 home kit, with a Jacquard wave motif that pays tribute to the great textile history of the city of Manchester, one of the major production centers since the time of the great industrial revolution of the mid-1800s.

Inside the jersey, purple details like the PUMA logo and shoulder bands are inserted. An unusual color but already used by the City for the Away jerseys last season. Under the crest, sewn on the left chest, a tribute appears to the 125th anniversary of the club, which will fall right during the next season.

Kit Away

In 1982, in a season in which the Citizens retreated into the Second Division, in Manchester was inaugurated what for a long time will be considered the best clubs in the world: The Haçienda, symbol of Madchester.

The Madchester - or Baggy - was the name used to refer to the city's music scene, which combined different genres such as Funk, Rock, Hip Hop, Acid House and Dance, with a psychedelic mark typical of the '60s.

The Fac 51 Haçenda nightclub until the mid-90s will remain the epicenter of this movement and of all the English artistic and musical culture, which now returns inspiring the new Pep Guardiola's club Away kit. This is an unusual but decidedly fascinating choice, which goes well with the sparkling soul and the unpredictable game of Aguero, De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling and Ederson.

The objective of the new PUMA course is clear, as witnessed by Adam Petrick, Global Brand Marketing Director of the German brand:

“The partnership between Manchester City and PUMA goes beyond football. We want the club’s global fans and local Mancunians to all feel invested in this, and it starts with combining our very creative kit designs with authentic stories from Manchester’s history and music scene. We want to bring Manchester City and PUMA’s brand initiatives together when and wherever we can, and that means going beyond the pitch, into wider areas of football culture such as gaming, community, fashion and music. That’s how we can really impact football fans of all ages and demographics.”

The kit is entirely black, with light blue and peach details on the cuffs, the same color also used for the PUMA logo on the chest. On the right shoulder, a yellow and black diagonal stripe has been inserted, for a very strong look that will also be worn by the women's team.
