A 21-years long record Thanks to last night win, the San Antonio Spurs will take part to the postseason for the 21st season in a row

“With a record broken, don’t give up on all other ones”. You won’t find this (semi)quote on the walls of San Antonio Spurs’ training facility but it would somehow represent the ending of the black & silver 2017/18 regular season. A few days ago, in fact, coach Popovich’s team witnessed the end of what we called ‘a 18-year long record’, breaking the streak of seasons ended with at least 50 wins. The Spurs, though, immediately redeemed themselves, clinching the qualification to the playoffs for the 21st year in a row.

It wasn’t easy for San Antonio to avoid another record to be broken, especially for all the injuries suffered during the regular season, with the almost total absence of the team’s All-Star Kawhi Leonard. Gregg Popovich, though, managed to take the Spurs to the playoff, confirming the Texan franchise as a pillar of continuity in the world sports, not to mention in the NBA basketball. It’s hard to foresee the chances of the team during the postseason, but the very fact to be there is already a great accomplishment.
