With the start of 2024, an interesting project has been unveiled for lovers of football and its most unpredictable connections. Matinal, the Spanish creative studio and community based in Madrid, is a project that looks beyond football, thinking of it as a bridge between communities and does so through collections dedicated to the new protagonists of football, on and off the pitch. The narrative in football is not only limited to inside the pitch and for this reason Matinal has created a collection in collaboration with adidas and shot on the streets of Madrid.

The talents involved are artists and creatives from the city's scene and thanks to them, the two items that make up the collection were presented. The first item made by Matinal is a football jersey and is called "Morning Flowers", a homage to the Sunday League and that habit of waking up early on Sundays to prepare for amateur matches, when the city is deserted and the first rays of sunshine appear. The second item is a sweatshirt called 'Post Match' and pays homage to a 1987 encounter between French writer Marguerite Duras and Michel Platini. The writer and director interviewed the champion intending to bring the intellectual world closer to the world of football and from that meeting a very interesting exchange was born in which this passage is worth mentioning:

Duras: “If those men were perfect, if players were perfect, would there be no football?
Platini: “There would always be a 0-0, no goals would be scored. If no one made a mistake, it would always result in a 0-0.
Duras: “But in races, horses don’t make mistakes. It’s much more safer than men.
Platini: “That’s individual capacity. It’s not about being smarter or friendlier!
Duras: "But do horses experience the kind of passion that we have been talking about? Or is that a uniquely human thing?"
Platini: "Well, horses, yes, they can race. And of course they have the benefit of wearing blinkers. We cannot wear blinkers."
Duras: "So you are all..."
Platini: "We are all what?"
Duras: "I am not quite sure how to put this."
Platini: "Horses?"
Duras: "No. I just said 'horses' because I like horses a lot."
