The electronic night at Fondazione Prada

Earlier this year Fondazione Prada inaugurated its club nights, the first taking place on April 19th, which featured Ricardo Villalobos and Craig Richards on the decks. The second was held on the 8th of June with Richards, E/Tape, Mulatu Astatke, Midori Takada and Nicolas Lutz.

The third and final event will take place this Friday the 28th from 19.00 to midnight at Fondazione Prada and will be a purely electronic based music night curated by Craig Richards, featuring sets from techno act Monolake presenting his special Live Surround set up. The pure electronics of the German multi-instrumentalist Burnt Friedman, the garage-house of British Joy Orbison, an eclectic Mexican DJ set from Baby Vulture and the influential sounds of the producer Craig Richards himself.

These club nights have proven to expand Fondazione Prada fields of engagement even further, which already includes research and musical experimentation within its cultural offerings and thus creating an unprecedented resonance between the two disciplines. The concept behind "I WANT TO LIKE YOU BUT THE FIND IT DIFFICULT” started from a personal vision, developed by Craig Richards, and aims to bring different audiences to the vocation of the Fondazione Prada, showing that culture is as engaging and attractive, as it is useful and necessary.

“the idea on which my curatorial project is based is that this language can be stimulating, provocative and even uncomfortable. As a collector and passionate about music, this concept has always fascinated me. My role as curator is to present my findings in this field, both past and current, in a sequence that brings inspiration, fun, mystery and a potential disturbance. The friction between the different proposals makes this vision possible. My main objective is to recognize a common thread that runs through music and in some way unifies it. I support the idea that 'appreciating' music is not always easy, but that trying to get to know it in depth can generate great pleasure."

DJ sets and live performances will take place in different locations within Fondazione Prada. The public is invited to move freely in the and out of the external environments, experimenting with new ways to interact with architecture and thus expanding the potential of the spaces.
