Dover Street Market Paris opens its doors during Art Basel Paris 18 installations to discover starting tonight
Art and design at the heart of architecture
The trail opens with a striking dialogue between material and light. With the "SOFT FORM" exhibition presented by Tiwa Select, British glassmaker Leo Kaspar and French-Argentine designer Nicolas Zanoni take over the building's stone space. Their works in thermoformed glass and heated industrial foam create an immersive environment. Nearby, Galerie Marian Goodman and artist Cerith Wyn Evans unveil "Neon Forms (After Noh XVI)," a suspended structure of intertwined neon tubes that translates the codified movements of Japanese Noh theater and concepts by Marcel Duchamp into spatial form.
The exploration of forms continues with an installation by the brand Rier and Lithuanian artist Augustas Serapinas, drawing inspiration from the abandoned rural architecture of the Vilnius region to echo an indigo fleece silhouette. Fine craftsmanship also takes center stage thanks to French glass artist Justine Ménard, whose "ONDINE" pop-up gathers sculptural borosilicate glass pieces designed as objects for domestic ritual, while designer Lauren Manoogian reinterprets the classic shape of ceramic vases through a series of nine hand-crocheted pieces.
Publishing, photography, and artist Books
The programming devotes significant space to the worlds of publishing and art photography. IDEA Publishing is spearheading two major launches: "KATE BY MARC," a book going behind the scenes of Marc Quinn's famous Kate Moss sculptures created between 2006 and 2008, and "QUILADELPHIA," photographer Quil Lemons' debut book exploring Black masculinity with vulnerability through a decade of photographs.
In an equally conceptual realm, the Archivorum×M program presents "GaboritRonaldHamilton," a collaborative work signed by Anthea Hamilton, Delphine Gaborit, and Lewis Ronald, structured around a poem by Marianne Moore. Meanwhile, stylist Alastair McKimm unveils Issue Zero of his magazine prototype_, alongside "Chair Zero," a polished aluminum chair created with designer Pierre Castignola. Finally, independent magazine Crosscurrent celebrates the launch of its ninth issue with a book signing event featuring cover designer Colleen Allen.
Unprecedented collaborations, fragrances, and performance
Fashion, perfumery, and live arts also rhythm this special week. To celebrate the release of the GEL-BELARRAOTTO sneaker, the OTTO 958 project joins forces with ASICS in a dedicated installation honoring artist Cauleen Smith’s participation in the Venice Biennale. The body in motion is celebrated by Britt Liberg during the performance "SKIRTS," in which performers swap handcrafted skirts made from deadstock fabrics, transforming the garment into a shared act.
The olfactory world takes the spotlight with the presentation of "BOVARY," the debut fragrance from Peer Parfum (founded by Gina Fischli and Clemens Hunziker), embodied by a custom sculpture. Designer Niccolò Pasqualetti launches his "Andara" trilogy of perfume extraits, set among hand-carved wooden sculptures by Jean-Guillaume Mathiaut.
Menswear is reinterpreted by Salon C. Lundman alongside a painting by Mikael Lo Presti, while the AF Vandevorst label offers a holistic experience combining blown-glass lighting by Filip Arickx with a techno DJ set by An Vandevorst. Gastronomy also joins the event thanks to WE ARE ONA and Luca Pronzato, who reveal a table designed with Rirkrit Tiravanija to announce Dalad's, a pop-up restaurant celebrating Thai cuisine. Lastly, duo Brett Westfall and Moon Westfall close out the trail with "Ascension of Flowers," a vibrant pictorial installation to discover throughout the spaces of Dover Street Market Paris.
Through these eighteen installations and cross-disciplinary collaborations, the Parisian institution transcends its role as a mere concept store to become a true living gallery - a must-visit event celebrating the fluidity between creative disciplines and the cultural effervescence energizing the capital during Art Basel week.
