At Milano Design Week 2026, Duravit presents Balcoon - Scapes, the installation by Patricia Urquiola that redefines the aesthetics of the bathroom by transforming it into an immersive experience. From April 21 to 24, within the spaces of the Gran Meliá Palazzo Cordusio, the project marks a new chapter in the collaboration between the brand and the designer, already initiated with the Balcoon collection in 2025.

While the original series constructed a grammar of essential geometries, layered surfaces, and earthy tones, here that language expands into space. The elements “lose” their primary function: basins and toilets detach from everyday use and become sculptural presences, almost totemic, placed within a composition that prioritizes perception and atmosphere. The installation also introduces a sensory dimension through unexpected materials and textures. Surfaces that evoke fur or structured concrete interrupt formal coherence with more instinctive accents, creating a balance between design rigor and playful tension. It is not only about observing, but about entering into a relationship with the space.

To make this relationship even more direct, Urquiola designs two bespoke benches that invite pause, in dialogue with a limited-edition stool produced in the Black Forest. The installation thus becomes an environment to inhabit, where the body turns into an active part of the narrative.

In parallel, the Milan showroom of Duravit showcases the new Balcoon 2026 pieces alongside collaborations with designers such as Philippe Starck, Studio F. A. Porsche, and Christian Werner. Between installation and product, the brand constructs a coherent narrative that goes beyond function and positions the bathroom as an alternative space, extending its presence throughout the city with a branded tram and a dedicated shuttle.
