MUBI FEST 2025 returns to Rome The Eternal City will host the film festival from November 14th to 16th

From November 14th to 16th, the Italian edition of MUBI FEST 2025 will take place, organized directly by the global distributor, streaming service and production company MUBI. The city of Rome will become the venue of this unmissable cinematic experience, which has united a community of film lovers for years to celebrate the world of cinema in all its forms. Events will take place at the Cinema Quattro Fontane, the Forum Theatre, and the dedicated space at Edicola Erno, offering audiences a curated selection of innovative feature films, Q&A sessions with filmmakers, and several evening events.

From big names to new contemporary cinema

Among the festival’s Italian premieres are some of the most anticipated titles of the season: Die My Love by Lynne Ramsay, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, presented In Competition at the Cannes Film Festival and at the Rome Film Fest, and Sirāt by Óliver Laxe, winner of the Jury Prize at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. Lastly, My Father’s Shadow by Akinola Davies Jr will be accompanied at MUBI Fest by the director himself.

The world of the short film will receive special attention through the works of the MIU MIU Women’s Tales series, created by some of the most renowned filmmakers on the international scene, such as Mati Diop and Joanna Hogg. To continue celebrating great cinema, there will also be a dedicated anniversaries section, with special screenings of Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread, Shinji Sōmai’s Typhoon Club, and Antonio Pietrangeli’s I Knew Her Well.

This year will also include numerous new additions, designed to explore contemporary cinema through different voices. First and foremost, comedian Saverio Raimondo will host the MUBI Fest Late Night, a show that will enliven the festival evenings with surprise guests. There will also be a special event combining entertainment and reflection, to tell stories about cinema and society with both lightness and depth. Finally, Marta Del Grandi, Luca Ravenna and Filippo Scotti will give voice to Dramma della Gelosia in a live reading that will reinterpret the celebrated text with a contemporary perspective.

It’s not just about cinema

Saying the quiet part out loud. A brand new clip from DIE MY LOVE sees Jennifer Lawrence's Grace trapped in small talk. In theaters next Friday.

This edition, however, will not stop at celebrating the world of cinema, but will also offer many opportunities for gathering — from DJ sets by Whitemary to participatory talks, all the way to a special live soundtrack performance of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis at the Forum Theatre. Following the success of last year’s Milan edition, a special focus on the production company’s magazine, NOTEBOOK, will return: a publication that explores cinema as an art form and a space for thought. A dedicated space for the magazine and exclusive festival merchandise will be set up at Edicola Erno.

MUBI FEST is therefore a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty of arthouse cinema, exploring new perspectives and meeting the protagonists of the contemporary scene, while adding a touch of sociality thanks to the numerous events organized outside the traditional cinema context.
