Sofia Coppola soon in Paris to sign her book "Making Marie Antoinette" 20 years after the release of the cult film

Twenty years after the release of her cult film, Sofia Coppola is returning to Paris to celebrate this symbolic anniversary. Her third feature film, inspired by Antonia Fraser's biography and starring Kirsten Dunst, drew 1.2 million viewers in France upon its release, despite a mixed reception during its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

To mark the occasion, the director is publishing a behind-the-scenes book with Important Flowers. The book brings together hundreds of photographs by Andrew Durham, a longtime friend and collaborator of the filmmaker. The photographer captured daily life on set, from hair and makeup sessions to quiet moments between takes, all the way to the premiere on the Croisette. This art book offers a fascinating deep dive into the creation and mythology of a spectacular production that enjoyed unprecedented access to the Palace of Versailles. A joint interview between Sofia Coppola and Andrew Durham completes the volume.

The book signing will take place on September 20, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at the Fondation Cartier (2 place du Palais-Royal, Paris 1st arrondissement). The book will be priced at 65 euros, and its content will also be featured in an exhibition open from September 22 at the Petit Trianon, located within the Versailles estate.
