Tom Ford is writing a new film

When Tom Ford announced the sale of his company, which officially made him a billionaire, many assumed that the designer would turn to his other main vocation, film. And based on what Ford told Air Mail a few days ago, in his first interview since the sale of the brand, the assumption is correct. When asked by Bridget Foley about Ford's plans to sign a new film, the designer replied:«Yes. But what I need to do now is take a nap», telling of the complex period of transition she is facing due to the passing of her father during the pandemic, his husband some time ago, and former partner Ian Falconer, compounded by the sale of the brand and the move to a new home in Palm Beach. 

Details about the film he will write are lacking, but Ford confirmed that it will be a dark comedy: «because that’s what life is. It’s a dark, dark comedy. Life is just so much pain, but yet so absurd. I think if you don’t approach it with a certain comedic point of view, it can kill you, life». Returning to talk about his future return to film, Ford admitted that directing A Single Man and Nocturnal Animals was «the most fun I’ve ever had in my life» adding that: «I felt I had said all I could say with fashion, whereas I don’t feel I have said all I could say with film».
