The adidas Running Ultraboost 19 'Dark Pixel' drops today

Rethought. Recoded. Reboosted.

The adidas Running Ultraboost 19 'Dark Pixel' drops today Rethought. Recoded. Reboosted.

Last month in Paris, adidas Running unveiled the next evolution of its immensely popular Ultraboost range, the adidas Running Ultraboost 19. Coinciding with the event, the drop was inaugurated with the release of the 'Laser Red' edition with its eye-catching red heel cage. Today finally available on SUEDE Store the second Ultraboost exclusive colorway, 'Dark Pixel', which takes its cue from the super-hyped original Triple Black adidas Ultraboost, pushing the color composition of the celebrated all-black shoe by integrating colorful textured tones creating a fresh new finish.

When it came to taking on the redesign of one of the most iconic adidas sneakers of all time, adidas returned to the source by engaging an enormous amount of runners worldwide to gain direct qualitative input. In the spirit of endless improvement, the new iteration has literally been rebuilt from the ground up with a group of over 4000 creators collectively reimagining what a performance shoe could be. Using the iconic first-generation Ultraboost and tearing it apart at the seams, individually assessing what works and what could be improved. Two elements that are undeniable about the original is its innovative design coupled with its unprecedented comfort which revolutionized the category. Always looking to push things further, adidas stripped the silhouette back from its 19 pre-existing parts, piece by piece to end up at four critical features. Torsion, Boost, Primeknit, and the 3D Heel frame.

Torsion technology which originated from the late ’80s with its lightweight bridge between the forefoot and heel to reduce improper flexing of the arch has been updated in a brand-new, lightweight Torsion Spring for a snappy and supportive transition. Boost, which is adidas’ principle new cushioning system, differentiates itself by its energy return principle, where energy isn’t merely absorbed, but given back to the runner like a spring. An Optimized BOOST midsole in the new Ultraboost 19 offers 20% more Boost and an even greater energy return than the first generation adidas Ultraboost. The updated Primeknit 360 upper is adidas’ first completely seamless upper, wrapping around your foot in one, single piece. Creating the feeling of a second skin, providing unparalleled breathability, flexibility, and support where needed. Topped off with a paired-back 3D Heel Frame which brings the perfect mix of adaptability and support to Ultraboost 19. Built from a combination of flexible and supportive materials, the stripped back design cradles the heel on impact to inject more confidence into your run.

"Thanks to 3D technology, we have been able to build a one-piece Primeknit upper, totally without seams. We used high performance breathable yarns and new dyeing processes, which allowed us to dare like never before: the result is a silhouette capable of guaranteeing high performance without sacrificing impact aesthetics."

Minimal in its components, but large in its ambition. Four daringly simple pieces are seamlessly integrated to achieve the ideal balance of energy return, lightweight comfort, natural flexibility, and targeted support. A holistic approach to design which enables the components to work in unison like never before. The new Ultraboost 19 is as much for the legends, the newbies, as the aspiring pro runners. A shoe for the underground run crews who set the city streets ablaze at night; a shoe that performs on any surface, a shoe to serve as the vehicle to keep running pacing, striving and ever evolving.

The adidas Ultraboost 19 Dark Pixel is the second of four limited-edition colorways to be revealed ahead of the global online launch on February 21, 2019 and available at select fashion retailers like SUEDE Store from January 4, 2019.
