MAMT Museo Mediterraneo dell'Arte, della Musica e delle Tradizioni

On next 20 december, will born the MAMT, "Mediterranean Museum of Art, music and traditions" of more than 40 countries. The space is located at two steps from the harbor, adjacent to the subway station was designed by the architect Alvaro Siza. The new museum was born thanks to the work of the "Fondazione Mediterraneo" chaired by Michele Capasso and inside of which are kept many objects, relics, documents, images and video. There are also drawings and sketches of the architect Siza, as well as the gifts offered by the Heads of State and Government that in the last twenty years have visited the seat of the Foundation. Born without any contribution on the part of institutions and governments, the museum was realized thanks to the collaboration of exponents of art and culture, diplomats, professors, experts and representatives of major international organizations. The institution will rise in a wing of the historic building of the former Grand Hotel de Londres.

The acronym MAMT in Neapolitan language means "your mother", and in the everyday use has double valence, is indicative and also negative (in the sense that with "mamt" send someone to f** off ... ).

The funny thing is that the name itself seems to mock to another famous neapolitan museum ...
