La nuova collezione di Umbro x Asbury Park FC

Che cos’è l’Asbury Park FC? Secondo la biografia presente sul sito societario: «l’Asbury Park Football Club (conosciuto anche come “The Tillies”) è la franchigia sportiva di Asbury Park con la maggiore narrazione, e la seconda migliore squadra di calcio del New Jersey. Famosa principalmente per le vittorie e i trofei conquistati negli anni ’50, la cultura del club è costruita attorno all’idea dell’unione tra arti performative e arte calcistica».



L’Asbury Park, quindi, è soprattutto leggenda, arte, ricordo, un pezzo di storia che vive nel presente, e che soprattutto, è attenta all’estetica. Da qualche tempo il club ha stretto una partnership con Umbro, tra i più storici brand calcistici, che ha portato alla release di alcune delle più belle divise in commercio. Inoltre, grazie anche a Umbro, il club ha trovato il modo di iniziare la progettazione del Samesong stadium, che, nelle parole del Presidente del Club Carter Youes-Em: «è quello che i nostri supporter meritano».



Qualche giorno fa Asbury Park ha rilasciato la nuova capsule collection in collaborazione con Umbro. Si tratta di due divise, ispirate agli anni ’90, quelli più difficili per il club. L’hanno descritta così, e preferiamo riportarla in versione originale:

With dwindling crowds and a decrepit home ground in Asbury Park, the club spent the season barnstorming Europe and playing friendlies against the best 3rd and 4th tier competition the continent had to offer.
