OFF-WHITE SS18 è una dichiarazione di consapevolezza

Virgil Abloh ha finalmente svelato TEMPERATURE la sua collezione OFF-WHITE SS18 ispirata al capolavoro di Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451.

Nella pittoresca cornice del Pitti Uomo 92, il designer ha presentato quella che lui stesso ha definito come “the most important collection I’ve ever done” dal carattere fortemente politico e incentrata sulle recenti dinamiche globali. Poesie e estratti di artisti come Omid Shams Gakieh e Anna Swir, hanno dato vita alle pareti fiorentine che circondavano la passerella così come le opere dell’artista Jenny Holzer che ha collaborato alla mise-en-scene dell'intero evento.

Pantaloni allentati, shirt basiche, coordinati in pvc trasparente e impermeabili baggy, insieme alle inedite Off-Court 1's e Off-Court 2's, sono solo alcuni dei pezzi chiave di TEMPERATURE, cui focus si sposta su ben altri orizzonti.

“You know, I’m a fan of fashion first and foremost. And for me, clothes are just clothes at the end of the day. Everyone has a bunch in their closet already.

And we’re showing more. Why show more? 

To me, it’s context that makes fashion special. What’s happening at the time influences what ideas I put forth. Current times inspired me to work with someone that had a powerful voice with a particular preciseness. I wanted to engage with an artist that made the right sort of mix. It’s her seniority and her art, her preciseness, her message that she’s been doing her whole career. And it’s my youth-driven, open to no rules (work).
Our work combined can make the show that’ll hopefully further both of our passions and messages”

In questa collezione, Abloh mette in scene tutta la sua passione oltrepassando quella linea rossa che divide arte e moda. Le ispirazioni vengono non dalla strada ma dall’intero panorama mondiale, dall’emergenza siriana alla situazione degli oceani, dai problemi di tutti i giorni alle grandi emergenze per un fashion system più consapevole di ciò che lo circonda.
