Rise to the occasion

Cholo's son Giovanni Simeone is making his way in football

Rise to the occasion Cholo's son Giovanni Simeone is making his way in football

His name is Giovanni Simeone and he’s following the family tradition, the art of football. It’s pointless to deny it, football is art. Ok, maybe a kick on someone’s ankles by Gravesen or Gattuso is not proper art, but Alessandro Nesta’s tackle is. But we were talking about Cholo’s son. We don’t know what is like to grow up with Atletico Madrid’s coach, but we know that Cholito is the new red and blue top scorer.

Everything begins with Genoa’s president passion for strikers, even better if they’re from Argentina. Preziosi, with Diego Milito’s memory in his mind, wanted another striker from that country, which gave us a Pope and some legends like Crespo, Salas, Batistuta, Higuaín and Icardi.

The starter should be Leonardo Pavoletti, a quality striker but with the big problem of injuries. And so Giovanni has carte blanche, he plays, scores and convinces. A few days ago he scored two goals in ten minutes against the strongest team in Serie A

According to Cholito’s himself, prior to the game his father Diego blessed him saying he would have scored against Juventus. Just as he did with Lazio many years ago, a little detail that he glorifies with an emotional tweet with the comparison of the two celebrations and one single word: “Touching”.

Now Giovanni doesn’t need compliments nor encouragements, but new goals, as every young player does. He needs new objectives to become an artist, like his father.
