PSG's new home shirt looks to the past
Nike takes inspiration from the early 2000s, Ronaldinho and the French flag

Having archived their Ligue 1 victory last season, Paris Saint-Germain are already thinking about next season and have unveiled their new home shirt, which recalls the club's history and style from the early 2000s. Nike chose to look back to the years that brought the Parisian team to the launch pad, not yet dominant in France and Europe but rejoicing in the goals of a young Ronaldinho.
The reference to Nike and PSG in particular is to the jersey from the 2001/2002 season, in which the red and white Hechter stripe is positioned on the left side, also forming the background to the team crest. The old layout is incorporated in Nike's newer one, with the stripe fading downwards. On the back, the French tricolor flag, symbolizing the team's dominance in national competitions, is inserted as a small detail. In the campaign shots meanwhile, the news is that both Mbappè and Neymar and Messi are present, the latter having been rumored for months to be leaving Paris but who may have made one of his last appearances with PSG in the new kit. We will see the new jersey on the pitch at the last home game of the season on Saturday against Clermont Foot.
