Fiorentina unveiled their home kit for the 2023/24 season at home versus AS Roma, a success that will boost morale ahead of the Conference League final against West Ham on 7 June. And Kappa's new jersey has been at the centre of discussions, thanks largely to two striking elements that immediately catch the eye. The first is the pattern chosen on the jersey's iconic purple, a mesh of diagonal lily stripes, an element that has made Kappa the absolute protagonist of Fiorentina's new rebranding. The second is the imposing collar chosen for the Kombat Pro, an imposing polo-style collar that also uses a wide V-neck that gives the shirt a retro vibe and wearability off the football pitch.

And it is this collar designed by Kappa that will only be used in the Pro version of the purple Kombat, which will be worn by players and available in authorised shops, while the Kombat Extra version, the so-called fan shirt, will have a simple crew neck. This is an interesting decision by Kappa, which has apparently decided to reduce the manufacturing costs of a jersey that will be sold at half the price of the Pro version, thus eliminating one of the most interesting and at the same time controversial elements of the design chosen for next season. At the same time, it also replaces a design that seemed designed for lifestyle rather than performance. Indeed, despite its undoubted charm, the collar has not always met with the approval of players, most recently from Toni Kross, who publicly complained about Real Madrid's recent jerseys. The tough verdict on the new purple jersey will be fought out among the fans, between those who prefer it in its original version and those who will opt for the collarless jersey instead.
