The new Arsenal jersey 20 years after the 'Invincibles'

Gunners' kit celebrates 2003/04 undefeated season

The 2003/2004 season is the most extraordinary one that Arsenal and its fans have experienced in the last 20 years. The team of Arsene Wenger, Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry and Robert Pirès ended that Premier League with zero defeats (26 wins and 12 draws), earning them the nickname 'Invincibles'. Next season will be the 20th anniversary of what still remains the last Premier League title won by the Gunners, so the club together with adidas decided to pay tribute to that team in the new Home kit.

The new jersey echoes that of the 'Invincibles', with a red front and back and all-white sleeves; the O2 sponsor is replaced by the current Emirates. A pattern of lightning bolts crosses the dark red of the jersey from top to bottom and this graphic element also returns as a detail in the socks, which are white as are the shorts. The gold details for the adidas logo and the Three Stripes on the sleeves are a tribute to the legendary team of the early 2000s, whose records are also included on the side in the authentic version.

The kit will be worn for the first time on the pitch on Saturday 27 May, when the women's team play their last WSL game against Aston Villa. Bukayo Saka, Jorginho and Gabriel Jesus will wear it the following day, when they bid farewell to the Emirates crowd for this season's last Premier game against Wolverhampton.
