After months of speculation that the sponsorship deal between PUMA and Red Bull Leipzig had already been signed, the team, which is part of the Red Bull group, showed its latest jersey signed by Nike, a company with which it has been working for ten years. And it is the nature of this relationship that complicates the move away from the US company, which over the years has defined and codified the aesthetic of every team associated with the famous energy drink with wings. And indeed, Red Bull Leipzig ended up first unveiling their new kits for the 2023/24 season and then wearing them on the pitch for what could prove to be a decisive challenge for the Bundesliga title.

Indeed, Marco Rose's boys surprisingly beat Bayer Munich 3-1 at home thanks to goals from Laimer, Nkunku and Szoboszlai, giving Borussia Dortmund a match point to win the German championship. An unexpected result, perhaps also thanks to Nike's new jersey with its blue and red striped camouflage pattern divided into four quadrants, which may have confused Bayern. A jersey that, for the first time since Nike became technical sponsor, uses not white but the other two corporate colours on the home jersey. A revolution decided in the very last year of sponsorship, for a jersey that will already be remembered with great affection. At least among the fans of Borussia Dortmund.
