After the 2006 World Cup won hands down by Italy, a European competition will return to Germany in 2024, Euro2024. And with the competition approaching, already this end the matches valid for qualification have been played, UEFA has announced the 10 stadiums where the national teams will compete for the title of which the national team is the holder, after beating England at Wembley. As usual, the international organisation has chosen the best cities and stadiums, they will be played in: Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Dortmund, Leipzig, Gelsenkirchen, Stuttgart and Düsseldorf. This is not a random choice also because German stadiums are among the most innovative and avant-garde in Europe and after the travelling edition, UEFA will return to having a European Championship played in a single nation.

Olympiastadion Berlin

It starts with the German capital in what is the home of Hertha Berlin and has hosted every German Cup final since 1985. A stadium that was renovated a few years ago and has a capacity of 75,000, and where the European Championship final will most likely be played. 

Cologne Stadium

From the capital, we move on to the stadium that hosted the 2019-2020 UEFA Europa League final between Sevilla and Inter Milan on 21 August, the Cologne Stadium. The home of the Fußball-Club Köln was refurbished to host the 2006 FIFA World Cup and since 2010 has regularly hosted the women's German Cup final and is a multifunctional facility that can reach a capacity of 50,000 people and host concerts and much more than just football matches. 

Allianz Stadium

One of the most iconic stadiums in all of Europe is surely that of Bayern Munich. A stadium that seen from the outside looks almost like a new one, capable thanks to its innovative LED system of lighting up in any colour, usually red when Bayern plays matches in its facility. Capable of seating 67,000 people, the Munich Football Arena that opened in 2005 will be the perfect theatre for big matches.

Leipzig Stadium

Another great setting will be the Leipzig Stadium, which since 2017 has been owned by the presidency that controls the club, Red Bull. Capable of seating 42,000 spectators, Leipzig's home is equipped with a state-of-the-art roof that will help the players and spectators should the weather be bad, even if the game is played in summer but in Saxony, never say never.

Gelsenkirchen

An outsized stadium that can seat 61,481 spectators and has hosted Schalke 04's home matches since 2001. Built in anticipation of the 2006 World Cup, the stadium, which was created near the Ruhr, is ready to host the first European Championship ever played in it.

BVB Stadion Dortmund

From one stadium in the Ruhr to another, that of Borussia Dortmund. A stadium with 81,365 seats (65,851 of which are seats), record numbers that make it the seventh largest stadium in Europe as well as one of the hottest considering its yellow wall that during Borussia matches never leaves its team alone.

Düsseldorf Arena

The Düsseldorf Arena will be one of the smallest UEFA EURO 2024 stadiums but still has a capacity of more than 40,000 spectators. It currently hosts the matches of Fortuna Düsseldorf, who last played in the Bundesliga in 2019/20 but despite their sporting achievements have a state-of-the-art facility, not quite like the Italian clubs.

Frankfurt Arena

The Frankfurt Arena hosts the matches of the current Europa League holders, Eintracht Frankfurt, and was built in 1925. A modern stadium, like all the others, although its capacity is not very high, standing at 46,000. 

Volksparkstadion Hamburg

In Europe's third largest city that is not a national capital, Hamburg, there is a very and obviously selected stadium to host the famous competition. It is the home of Hamburg SV, underwent a significant renovation in 2020 and now holds 50,000 people, the same number who will be ready to fill it to support their national team. 

Stuttgart Arena

Stuttgart is a large industrial city and home to two of the world's most famous car manufacturers, and its stadium will be ready to accommodate 54,000 people. A stadium that is not as recently built as the others but was built in 1993 and has hosted matches at the 1974 and 2006 World Cups as well as the 1988 UEFA European Championships.
