Fiorentina will play away from the Franchi for two years The club is already working to find an alternative while waiting for its new home

Practically a year ago the winning project of the international competition for the restyling of the Franchi stadium was unveiled, signed by the Arup studio, which will deliver a modern structure to the city by 2026, and yesterday the mayor spoke about the possible alternatives. "We agree: the choice is to play outside the Franchi for two championships from mid-2024 to mid-2026. We talked about it with the dg Barone during Fiorentina-Lecce, the choice is to then keep Fiorentina's matches separate." Fiorentina must therefore start thinking about possible alternatives for the two years in which the stadium will be refurbished to reach 40,000 spectators, in order to hand the Italian federation a new modern stadium without an athletics track in view of the possible European Championship bid.

Now the totostadio opens, the easiest options at the moment are Modena, Parma or Perugia, which together with Reggio Emilia, according to La Nazione, seem the most viable roads. But not only that, the club is also sounding out the terrain for Ferrara, Perugia or Cesena. A very delicate situation of which the club will also have to take into account the rivalries, in fact fans are often very reluctant to go to see their team in a structure of their bitter lifelong adversaries. It will certainly not be easy, but Italy is finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, modernising old and inadequate structures, thus reaching the same level as foreign clubs that today make the stadium a strong point, especially on the revenue side.
