Ennerre returned to making football kits The historic Italian company has signed with two South American clubs

More than 40 years have passed, yet the 1980s seem much more distant than they temporally are. A lot has changed in football since that time, especially the jerseys, which have been altered over time, from fits to materials, and yet despite so many changes there are still technical sponsors from that era that have remained in every fan's memory. One of these is surely NR, the brand with the two letters side by side in green and outlined in white on a black background, which today officially announced its return to the world of football. The initials of Nicola Raccuglia, a winger who started out in Palermo and played in various Italian cities such as Pescara, Arezzo, Vicenza, and Ascoli, completely characterised the aesthetics of the Italian top league in the 1980s. And after years of absence, the last time a team took the field with those initials was 2011 with Tokyo Verdi, he will return to another league, the South American one, and will design the jerseys for Belgrano and Deportivo Espanol.

In the 1970s and 1980s NR was the competitor of adidas, Puma, Umbro, Lotto and Diadora: although these were giants in those years, the brand still managed to supply around 700 shops in Italy alone, having over 200 employees and also exporting to Holland with the Cruijff brothers. A popularity with the public given by the successes achieved on the field and the unmistakable style of their shirts, which then waned over the years. In fact, the brand dressed Maradona's Napoli for a few seasons and accompanied Roma in one of their best years, when the Giallorossi were holders of the Coppa Italia and the next winners of the Scudetto that would arrive in 1983, with Bruno Conti, Roberto Pruzzo and Giuseppe Giannini wearing NR branded Giallorossi shirts with the historic Barilla sponsor in white for the 1982 season. A return that will hopefully not just be confined to the South American league, the dream of every fan and collector is surely to see a Serie A team wearing a kit with those two initials again.
