What was trending the last time Milan won the Scudetto What was the world like 11 years ago when the Rossoneri triumphed in Serie A for the last time?

For the 19th time in its history, Milan is Italian Champion, eleven years after its last domestic success. A victory that was not unthinkable at the beginning of the season, but surprising in the way it came, on the shoulders of Pioli's group of youngsters who probably did not have the same experience as their colleagues at Inter, Napoli, and Juve, but who devoured every kilometer of the field with a hunger that could only lead to the final triumph. A Scudetto that Pioli, the architect and prince commander of this success, immediately wanted to imprint for life on his own skin with a tattoo made on the immediate day-after the decisive 3-0 win against Sassuolo. For the Rossoneri, after a long wait, it is finally winning time. But what was the world like 11 years ago, when Milan won the Italian league title the (pen)last time? What were the fashions of the time?

Mercurial Vapor Superfly vs Predator

2011 was the year the Mercurial Vapor Superfly III, the Nike-branded shoes that immediately became recognized by their purple upper and fluorescent yellow heel, came on the market. The leading man in the American company's campaign is Cristiano Ronaldo, but even in the Milan house there are those who put their faces on it by wearing the new boots with style and quality of play. This is Alexandre Pato, who debuts with the third generation of Mercurial on his foot on March 19 of that year in Palermo-Milan clashing on the field with Rosanero players Javier Pastore and Fabrizio Miccoli, also wearing the new Nike-branded shoe model.

Opposing the American company, as always, is adidas, which in the same year present the new adipower Predator with the historic color of the time Sharp Blue/Electricity/Black: that is, blue base, yellow side bands and black back. A contemporary design, which sees a farewell to the classic tongue, and unprecedented lightness at only 230g

The iPhone 4, Steve Jobs' latest

In the hands of almost every soccer player and fan witnessing the Milan Scudetto with photos and videos is the iconic iPhone 4, the Cupertino company's first squared-off and no longer rounded. The smartphone features for the first time a Retina display that guarantees great image quality on the screen and is also the first to feature a front-facing camera, kicking off the selfie era. This model, however, is also remembered for a sad historical event: it is in fact the last to be presented by Steve Jobs who died in October 2011 due to a recurrence of carcinoma resulting in respiratory arrest.

Converse and the Two Food model

In the spring that then led to Milan winning the championship, here came a new Converse model on the market: the Chuck Taylor All Star Two Fold, shoes that hid a secret. At first glance, in fact, the sneakers look the same as the timeless Chuck model. Turning down the flap, however, due to the presence of a double upper, here appear writings that launch a message and fresh and colorful patterns. The U.S. company thus brought to market a new Converse that focused on the fusion of the shoes that have made, and continue to make, history and an innovation that was a huge success.

The 2011 Air Jordan and the interchangeable sole

Staying in the world of sneakers, in 2011 Jordan introduced a revolutionary model hatched from the minds of designers Tinker Hatfield and Tom Luedecke. What makes these basic black-and-white Air Jordans special is the ability to be able to change the sole depending on the characteristics of the sportsperson wearing them. The blue sole (Zoom Air) perfect for those who want to achieve agility and speed, the red sole (Encapsulated Air), on the other hand, more explosive and offering maximum cushioning. And with this model of Jordan is included for the first time for a basketball shoe the NIKEiD service that allows you to customize the product.

Instagram only for iOS devices

Instagram is now the most popular social media app of our time, but in the year of the 2011 Rossoneri Scudetto it was only available to a small circle of users. In fact, the app, which at the time had not yet been acquired by Mark Zuckerberg, was only available to owners of an Apple device running the iOS operating system. On Android smartphones, Instagram landed in 2012 thus further confirming itself with the most used social network in the world with millions and millions of subscribers.

Milan will only land on IG in September in 2013, with a campaign headed by the hashtag #MyMilan. The first post is a special gallery in which players and managers, including Galliani and Barbara Berlusconi, tell what the Rossoneri club means to them. To Riccardo Montolivo instead, captain of that Milan, the burden and honor of the first video greeting to the fans with a clear message: "We will bring you to Milan."

Fashion fade, Ibrahimovic stays

Never waning at the Rossoneri is the fashion associated with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Milan bought the Swede from Barcelona in the very year of the now penultimate Scudetto, and immediately came the conquest of the tricolor. There were 21 goals scored by Ibra in that triumphant year, a true technical and charismatic leader of that team coached by Max Allegri

11 years later, Ibrahimovic sewed another Scudetto to his chest this time with as a 40 years old. The difference is all in the Swede's contribution to the team. Just eight goals were scored in the championship that just ended, but the competitive drive and locker room experience that the player managed to give his teammates was a key factor in Milan's success. Never changing is his jersey number, 11 like the years he has gone from one tricolor to the next. Only a coincidence?
