Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams could soon be the new owners of Chelsea FC. The two champions in fact would be inside the group led by the English entrepreneur Sir Martin Broughton for the acquisition of the London club. According to rumors collected by SkySport and BBC Sport, Chelsea could be close to a change of presidency, after the bans and sanctions that have affected Roman Abramovich in recent times, passing into the hands of Sir Martin Broughton, former chairman of Liverpool. The British entrepreneur, however, has always been a fan of the Blues and wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to buy his favorite club, taking advantage of Abramovich's extreme need to sell as soon as possible.

Both Hamilton and Williams, having won everything that could be won in their respective sports, have already begun the transition into their business empires managers, and Chelsea could become the new goal of their lives beyond sports. The seven-time F1 world champion and the 23-time Grand Slam winner have teamed up to raise the necessary capital, a figure that has yet to be revealed, however. A spokesperson for Lewis Hamilton, however, has made it clear that the figure circulated in the press, which indicated the two sportsmen's contribution of £10mln, is not accurate.

The Blues currently can operate thanks to a special license from the British government after owner Roman Abramovich resigned from ownership due to sanctions decided after Russia's aggression against Ukraine. Broughton's group, in addition to Hamilton and Williams, can count on Josh Harris and David Blitzer, U.S. businessmen already accustomed to the world of sports owning shares in Crystal Palace, the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils. As of today, the group is one of the three in contention for the purchase of the Blues, listed at £2.5 bln.
