Botafogo will play with a jersey without sponsors

Waiting to find a new kit supplier, the Rio de Janeiro club goes back in time with a very vintage jersey

Botafogo goes back in time, and not only because the black and white stripes always leave a vintage aftertaste, but because in the next matches will take the field without technical sponsors as it was common to do before the '70s. A decision taken by the President of the Brazilian team John Textor, who after having blocked the transition to the new sponsor Volt Sport at the end of the relationship with Kappa, preferred to remain a free agent in the hope of attracting a name with a more international profile. A bet that will not be easy to win, given that the closest sponsor to Botafogo at this time seems to be Reebok, which is relaunching itself in the world of soccer.

For now, the jersey is a dive into the past, with only the club's logo on the right side of the chest to interrupt the vertical pattern that has always characterized the team from Rio de Janeiro. The kit is completed by black shorts and socks, for a minimal and retro look made by the Chinese brand Wev, whose logo is not visible. While waiting for Botafogo to find a technical sponsor worthy of the club's tradition as requested by its President, it is undeniable that even this temporary kit has its own charm and lets us imagine rewinding the tape of soccer history to when simplicity and cleanliness dominated on the game jerseys.
