All the racing cars of the next revolutionary Formula 1 season

The veil has finally been lifted on all the single-seaters ahead of the start of the 2022 World Championship on March 20 in Bahrain.

All the racing cars of the next revolutionary Formula 1 season The veil has finally been lifted on all the single-seaters ahead of the start of the 2022 World Championship on March 20 in Bahrain.

In the eyes and in the minds of Formula 1 fans there is still the last lap overtaking, with the Safety Car in the middle, of Max Verstappen on Lewis Hamilton that delivered the first world title to the German driver. The controversy surrounding the work of the race direction and, specifically, of Michael Masi are still on the agenda, with the latter having just been relieved of his Race Director duties in favor of a new track VAR. But if the echo of the disputes still hovers in the paddock, the curtain on the Formula 1 show is ready to rise. The green light will go off on March 20 in Bahrain and the first tests have already been carried out, but above all the veil has been removed on the new race cars that will be on track throughout 2022.

2022 will be the year of revolution for the world of cars. The past has been erased in favor of sweeping changes to the regulations for the new cars. "The biggest technical change of the last 40 years," Adrian Newey, Red Bull's longtime engineer, called it. Changes made to reduce costs, but at the same time to level the performance of the teams and have more spectacle on the track. In fact, race cars with ground effect are back, as they have not been seen since the 1980s. There will therefore be a renunciation of the complex aerodynamic devices of recent seasons in favor of simpler elements to make the cars less sensitive to the slipstream, so as to favor the skill of the drivers in overtaking. But the changes do not end here. In fact, there will be the change from 13" to 18" wheels, with carbon wheel covers. Larger tires to try to decrease overheating to allow them to be used at their maximum performance throughout the stint.

Ferrari and its F1-75

The new Ferrari F1-75, in honor of the 75th anniversary of the team, is one of the most aggressive and "bad" racing cars presented. Confirming the impression made by the new Maranello car is the reaction of the two drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz who at first sight exclaimed a surprised "Mamma Mia...". As for the color scheme, the red appears darker and more opaque than the one chosen for last year's car. But what immediately catches the eye is the strong presence of black, an old style color choice that recalls the Reds of the past, especially those at the turn of the 80s and 90s. We will have to see how it will go on track, but from the first tests in Barcelona, which saw Lecler and Sainz on the shields, the premises to do well are all there.

The reigning champion Verstappen's Red Bull

During the performance of the new car, Red Bull played a bit of hide and seek, showing a basic car that had very little of the new and revolutionary RB18, eighteen like the 18th car born in Milton Keynes. The show car was in fact a way to present only the new sponsor Oracle, which will also name the team for the modest sum of 500 million paid into the coffers of the company of the fastest can in the world. On the 2022 automobile, the new main partner is clearly visible, with large letters on the sides of the car. Even the blue, the main color of the car, seems darker, opaque and less metallic than in previous editions, as well as the yellow and red of Red Bull appear more visible, especially on the front nose.

Mercedes goes back to silver

After the almost total black of last season, Mercedes abandons the black color to become a "silver arrow" again. The W13, which will be driven by an all-British team made up of Hamilton and Russell, will obviously be the car to beat given the eight consecutive World Championships won by the constructors. The new single-seater, in addition to the color scheme, has many new features compared to last year's car. It is worth noting the extremely pointed nose, which in length ends well beyond the front wing. The red shark fin for the Ineos sponsor remains unchanged, while the Mercedes logo, absent from the previous car, appears several times on the back of the race car.

The orange-blue McLaren

In Woking the curtain has been raised on the new McLaren MCL36, a number that continues the countdown started with the MP4-1, dated 1981. The car that will be driven by Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo has a brighter coloring than last season, with a more fluorescent papaya orange and a blue that turns into light blue. The race car has many revolutionary new features such as a front wing with a particular shape and the new suspension scheme, which brings a pull rod in front and a push rod in back.

Haas and the farewell to the colors of Russia

The Haas was the first automobile of 2022 to be presented and for this reason it has aroused great curiosity because of the many changes adopted due to the regulation. The model of the new VF-22 is all the work of the Italian engineer Simone Resta, as well as the engine that remains with Ferrari. The colors shown at the presentation are the same as the 2021 car, with a predominance of white and red and blue that recall the Russian flag, the country of origin of the sponsor Uralkali, a chemical company owned by the Mazepin family. During the tests in Barcelona, however, an important position was taken by the Haas Team. Given Russia's attack on Ukraine, the team decided to remove the colors of the Russian flag and go on track with a completely white car.

The Alpine and the double coloring

The most colorful car that immediately catches the eye is definitely the new Alpine A522. During the show in which the veil was lifted on the car, in fact, the team presented two models, from the aesthetic point of view, of the car. One that comes close to total pink and the other metallic blue with the presence of pink veins. The first one will be used by Fernando Alonso and Ocon in the first two Grands Prix of the year to celebrate the partnership with the new main sponsor BWT - an Austrian company active in the field of water treatment. Like Ferrari, Alpine has chosen an aggressive design impact for its racing car.

AlphaTauri and the homage to Italy

The AlphaTauri, which will be driven by Tsunoda and Gasly, is very similar in color to the 2021 car. In fact, the AT03 retains the blue, this time a little more opaque, but unlike the car that preceded it, there is a greater presence of white, especially on the "fin" of the car. The Faenza-based team has also chosen to pay homage to its Italian origins by inserting a tricolor smear on the front wing. The design of the single-seater also features a special rear wing supported by two struts.

The historic green of Aston Martin

Aston Martin, just like last year, presents itself in its historic and iconic green. The AMR22, which stands for Aston Martin Racing, compared to the single-seater that preceded it, has fluorescent yellow inserts, unlike the white of last season. Even the main color of the car that will be driven on track by Vettel and Stroll, at first glance, seems to move more towards a lime green.

The restyling of the Williams

From a chromatic point of view, the new Williams FW44 is the one that has changed the most compared to the past world championship. Goodbye to white combined with blue and here is a car almost totally dark blue. The red lines on the livery have been inserted to recall the Union Jack, the British flag. Latifi and Albon will drive a single-seater with a diamond design that aims to bring home great results throughout the season. "The FW44 highlights the transition into the future," said British team principal Jost Capito

Alfa Romeo, return to red

The Italian team's car was the last, in chronological order, to be shown to the public. During the first tests in Barcelona, it appeared with a full camouflage livery, before the new livery was finally unveiled, with the return of the iconic red to be the master on the car - covering almost entirely the nose, hood and halo - after last year the main color was white. The C42, which will be driven on track by Bottas and Zhou, also pays homage to the Italian flag with the tricolor present on the entire rear wing.
