Who will Lazio sign with? After eight years, Macron's contract expires in June, there are three brands in the running

Next June will officially end the agreement that binds Macron and Lazio for eight years. The Bologna-based brand had managed to wrest the club away from PUMA, but according to reliable rumours reported by many newspapers, the 3.5 million-a-season contract between the Biancocelesti and Macron will not be renewed. For the future of the Lazio shirt, a three-way battle between Mizuno, Kappa and Castore is on the horizon, three brands with very different histories but which belong to the same aesthetic category that can marry the project and philosophy of Lazio. These rumours also confirm the trend that the big brands - Nike, adidas and PUMA - are moving away from sponsoring mid-level clubs, shifting their efforts to the top or national teams and leaving market shares to growing brands.

Mizuno seems to be in pole position in the race for the biancoceleste shirt, a return to the top Italian league that has been missing for exactly twenty years when it sponsored Fiorentina.  Today Mizuno is still present in Italy but only in the minor categories, sponsoring Cesena, Cittadella and Sudtirol. The second name on the list is Castore, the English brand founded in 2016 wants to expand and go beyond the English borders, according to rumors in fact also Aston Villa, Bayer Leverkusen and Sevilla could switch to Castore. Lazio would be a unique opportunity for Castore to have a good European visibility, considering that the biancoceleste team, thanks to the last seasons, is playing with continuity in the Europa League or Champions League. If there should be no surprises, Sarri's team, also next year, should guarantee international exposure to the English brand. The last name on the list is Kappa, the Italian brand had already tried in 2012 before Macron, but without success. A possible signing that would confirm the good things done in recent years by Kappa, which has increasingly expanded its base, especially in Italy, becoming together with Macron the brand to sponsor more teams.

The relationship between Macron and Lazio is one of the most continuous in Serie A and it is a bond that has contributed to making the Bologna-based brand the most present in the Italian top league. The last renewal dates back to 2017, and was extended until 2022 for around €20 million plus bonuses. A relationship possibly soured also because of the cryptic choices made by the brand and the club this summer on the occasion of the launch of the new jersey. Three factors did not fully convince fans and critics: the day, the lack of a shoot and the sustainability message. But that's all in the past, the story between the two is now at the end of the line, and only the official announcement is awaited.
