Grace Wales Bonner e adidas had just unveiled their new collaboration in a capsule collection inside the Fall/Autumn 2021 collection by the South London designer. Titled "Black Sunlight", is the third instalment after "Lovers Rock" for the Fall/Autumn 2020 e after "Essence" for the Spring/Summer 2021. This time the designer pays tribute to Black intellectualism and to the students, poets and artists in the Caribbean, India and West Africa that during the '80s had carried with their work the postcolonial discourse in the UK and across the globe.

The collection features apparel and accessories which reinterpret pieces of the adidas archive such as t-shirs, trousers, anoraks and bucket hats in addition to a personal take on the iconic adidas tracksuit. The colors and patters are a nod to scholarly graphics, to symbolize academic and personal growth, while the cuts chosen explore the intersection between sportswear and tailoring. A space that the Londoner designer loved to explore and that also adidas use a lot, by insert its most iconic sport items in collaborations with a higher positioning. In that way they can make more accessible the creations of celebrated designers, like Wales Bonner, and also modernize the brand's staples that we know and love.

The collection features the evocative images shot by Tyler Mitchell, the first black photographer on the Vogue's cover, where the models play sports and relax under a summer afternoon's sun. An idyllic image that convey freedom, intimacy and brotherhood and that is perfect to represent also Wales Bonner aesthetic.

The collection is out on November 16 in select retailers and on-line, here
