Liverpool's new Nike away jersey

A jersey inspired by the past, a return to the 1996-97 season

Liverpool's new Nike away jersey A jersey inspired by the past, a return to the 1996-97 season

Liverpool and Nike have officially unveiled the new away kit for next season. A real return to the past, the colour palette and design chosen are inspired by the 1996-97 season. Stone white blends with a deep teal on the collar, giving the shirt an elegant and clean look. A shirt made from 100% recycled polyester that embodies Liverpool's rich history and is in fact dedicated to it. The stone white colour is also a symbol of the Three Graces, a complex of buildings that make up the city's iconic skyline.

On the inside of the collar, however, the words 96 appear surrounded by flames, a tribute to all the victims of the Hillsborough tragedy. Nike is once again focusing on the link between the city and its fans this season. The 2020 away shirt was also inspired by a Liverpool monument, the Liver Bird. From the two statues depicting the famous bird, symbol of the city of Liverpool and the company logo, this year we moved to the city skyline. The new away kit is available for pre-order on Liverpool's website and will go on sale from Thursday 15 July, along with the new training kits.
