Bayern Munich continues the trend of sustainability in football and has decided to issue digital tickets only. In short, no more paper for the Bavarian fans returning to the stadium. This was announced by Jan-Christian Dreesen, vice president of the club, who in the official note specifies that "such a change is necessary to reduce CO2 emissions". Bayern, although often seen as a cutting-edge sports club, until now sent those who bought the ticket online a letter with the communication of the purchase and the ticket. This mechanism will be replaced with an e-mail.

The transformation into digital ticketing does not only involve paper but also plastic, with subscriptions - or annual chip cards - which will not be plasticized but digitized. The numbers of the transformation and the estimates of the reduction of the environmental impact are significant: "In addition to reducing the production of plastic and paper tickets, communication via e-mail eliminates about 350,000 letters previously printed and sent by post. This is a precious contribution to climate protection and resource conservation".

The "revolution" - on which Bayern are partially late - will begin as soon as restrictions allow fans to return to the Allianz Arena and all tickets and parking passes will be available immediately after purchase. On the one hand, digitization is an essential step in 2021, on the other hand the aesthetics of the paper tickets that have made football history will be lacking.
