The first Jordan dedicated to Zion Williamson The first signature shoes of the New Orleans Pelicans'power forward

Zion Williamson signed his first contract with Jordan brand in 2019, and now, the American brand has dedicated to the New Orleans power forward its first signature shoes, the Zion 1. The player was the first Generation Z basketball player to sign a contract with Jordan and for the American brand he is the fourth player to receive a signature shoes after Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony. Williamson's strength, muscles, and the direct opinion influenced Jordan in designing Zion 1, whose design is modeled after a hypothetical superhero armor

As Highsnobiety explains, one of the impressions Williamson wanted to give his shoe was that it had a superhero coating, like some sort of armor. In fact, Vianney de Montgolfier, Senior Footwear Designer at Jordan explained: "We knew that one of Zion’s main inspirations for the look of the shoe was superhero armor. But when we thought about an icon or symbol that could clearly draw out the shoe’s benefits, the 'Z' made perfect sense to us”.

One of the strong parts of the sneakers is the tongue, in which stands out, in addition to Jordan's gold logo, also the padding around the ankle that guarantees a better footwear and adherence inside the shoe. Just like armor. In addition, the sole of the sneakers contains Air Strobel technology and, in the back, on the heel, a large Z is inserted, with different meanings: the Z of its generation, of Zion, practically, its distinctive feature. The first model of Zion 1 to be released will be the Gen Zion, with black and gray colors, while in the coming weeks the ZNA (on May 5), the Noahs (May 19) and Marion (may 26) will also be released.
