The new adidas LA Galaxy kit comes from the 90s

A kit that enhances the culture of Los Angeles communities

The new adidas LA Galaxy kit comes from the 90s A kit that enhances the culture of Los Angeles communities

LA Galaxy and adidas have unveiled the second kit for the 2021 season, which starts on April 17th. The shirt was renamed as the "Community Kit" because it was inspired and addressed to the groups of supporters who have followed and supported the team since 1995 - the year the club was founded. Inspired by the amazing Nike design used in the first seasons between 1996 and 1998, the 5-time MLS champions choose the colors of the 90s: black, yellow and Tech Green, a particular shade of dark green. The vertical lines recall the jersey of the beginnings in the Major League, when the leaders Cobi Jones and Jorge Campos - who creates an all-Mexican common thread with Giovani dos Santos and Chicharito Hernandez - put Los Angeles on the American football map.

The culture of the community is one of the peculiarities of US football and is a strong point of the campaign that the Galaxy have launched via social networks in the last few hours. The Compton Cowboys, Galaxy Outlawz, Victoria Block, Angel City Brigade (ACB) are among the communities that took part in the launch of the alternative jersey for next season. The 5 stars in the logo are also back, symbolizing the 5 MLS championships (2002, 2005, 2011, 2012, 2014) won in 25 years of history. On the back of the Community Kit's collar is the quasar LA logo which completes the style. The first kit, on the other hand, will remain the same as the one used last season.

Jones and Campos aren't the only Galaxy "old glories" involved in this launch: Harut Karapetyan (1996-98), Kevin Hartman (1997-2006) and Greg Vanney (1996-2001) took part in the video representing the community which over the years has made LA Galaxy an icon of American football.
