'Happy Recluse', the surf film by Arc'teryx Documenting Pete Devries' journey to Vancuver Island

Arc'teryx, brand leader in the outdoor sector and which in recent times has been noted for Gopcore garments, presented its first film on the world of surfing, Happy Recluse, produced and directed by Nate Laverty, starring the brand's ambassador and professional surfer Pete Devries and photographer Jeremy Koreski. The short film focuses on devries' hours of surfing - followed by Koreski - in the waters of Vancouver Island, Canada, with Devries' account of his relationship with surfing those specific territories - cold, windy, hard.

"I've always loved cold water. It makes me feel good. I love surfing in different places around the world" are the words with which Devries debuts, which throughout the film - which lasts just over nine minutes - is entirely signed Arc'teryx. Through beautiful images and spectacular photography, the video focuses on the surfer's happy recluse, namely isolation in the cold waters of Vancouver Island where Devries arrived after years of surfing on the surrounding coasts - the territory known as British Columbia. In fact, there is talk of a route, in which you discover the surfer put to the test by the heavy climatic conditions of those waters and that have also involved other beaches. In this case, production focused on its last stop, namely the waves of Vancouver Island.

The garments produced by Arc'teryx are perfect for this type of sports activity, with thermal protections (indispensable for surfing at those temperatures) and jackets. Koreski, the photographer who followed and documented it, followed Devries' bond with the waves directly from the water, by boat, also defying the weather of British Columbia's rain and climate.
