The new Champions League's ball inspired by old finals 20 names, 20 numbers, plus one

adidas has presented the new official Champions League ball, used starting tonight and which will be on the pitch in matches from the eighth to the semi-finals of the competition. For this season it is the second sphere that UEFA will use for the competitions of its best club competition, after, for the preliminaries and group races, the same model was used in the technology, but different in design.

In fact, this new version of the playing ball is the reference in the template to the 21st century finals, from Bayern Munich-Valencia in Milan 2001 to Bayern Munich-PSG in Lisbon last year. adidas wanted to enhance the value of the Champions League through the final, its final act, writing on a small red band all the names of the cities (with the reference year) that hosted the last Champions League match. Grey dominates the hexagonal pattern, with designs that, for each finale, represent an iconic moment or a distinctive feature of the reference city. The result is a very imaginative and detailed sphere, with apparently indefinite drawings but which, instead, collect the recent history of this competition. At the center, of course, is the logo of this season's final, Istanbul 2021.

As in the other model, the stars touch each other but do not touch each other - peculiarities of the models of the other years - and the leather of the ball is equipped with Performance technology, which equips the ball with a better sensitivity in the impact with the foot.
