American collegiate aesthetic in the Rowing Blazers x NBA collection

Michael Jordan's photos in the University of North Carolina dormitory are history: turntables, the first headphones, the posters in the bedroom. Those same shots tell the college aesthetics, the same that Rowing Blazers recalls today in his first collaboration with the NBA. After the tribute to Lady D, some franchises of the American league - Lakers, Bulls, Celtics, Nets, Knicks and Warriors - are part of the new collection of the New York brand of Jack Carlson. The main sources of inspiration for the capsule's vintage lookbook are two: the college aesthetics at the turn of the 60s and 90s and "Take Ivy", a Japanese book from 1965.

Rugby shirts, jackets, sweaters, trousers but also accessories such as ties, belts, bags and scarves: these are the items of the first Rowing Blazers x NBA collection, also topped with a Spalding ball with the double logo of the brands. All catapulted into 2021 directly from the 70s and 80s, with clear historical references. Carlson, in fact, gets carried away by MJ's magnetism so much that he recreates an almost identical copy of his room at the time of UNC to use it as a photographic set.

The collegial aesthetic is certainly the result of the book that literally captured Rowing Blazers' artistic attitude. "The book was created by a group of Japanese guys who came over to the U.S. in the early ’60s", explained the founder of the New York brand. "They photographed American college kids in their natural habitat and inadvertently created a style bible. For the Rowing Blazers x NBA collection, I looked at Take Ivy, and I also looked at how some of my all-time favorite NBA players were dressing when they were in college. I thought about the kinds of things I like to wear, and just wanted to make timeless, elevated pieces, inspired by old-school Americana but luxe and really well made" Carlson then concluded.

The Rowing Blazers NBA capsule collection is already available on the Rowing Blazers website and prices range from a minimum of € 69 to a maximum of € 1,258.
