The next Champions League will be on Prime Video Amazon will have the best Wednesday games for a three-year period

Amazon has officially purchased the Television Rights of the Champions League in Italy, so the American company, through its streaming platform Prime Video, will broadcast the 16 best European Wednesday matches from the 2020/21 season to 2023/24. The Champions League matches will be followed by the exclusive rights to the next three editions of the European Super Cup (the challenge between the Winner of the Europa League and that of the Champions League, usually scheduled for August).

On Amazon, the races of an Italian team will be broadcast per week, from the group to the semi-finals, therefore the best. You will need to be subscribed to Prime Video - which you receive, in addition to the $4.99 per month subscription, being, automatically, customers of Amazon's Prime service - but it is not yet clear whether an overprice will be added to subscribers for viewing matches. The only security is that from next year, in addition to Sky and Mediaset, Amazon Prime Video will broadcast several matches of the Italian teams exclusively. This will lead to a - probably - change in the offer of the two broadcasters already active in Italy, Sky and Mediaset: Fatto Quotidiano explains that Murdoch's company will broadcast 104 Champions League matches, while the remaining 16, will be broadcast on Tuesday by Mediaset in clear.

The transmission of the Champions League in Italy is for Amazon the second sporting moment of the year, after in England, since June, Bezos had allowed free and clear watching of certain Premier League matches: all already scheduled and aware of the public, available on the company's app. The direction of broadcasting sporting events is increasingly turning towards online and OTT. In Italy, in this sense, Prime Video reaches DAZN, a service active since 2018.
