The Supercoppa italiana 2020 will be Ps5 Supercup

After Coppa Italia Coca Cola, another international title sponsor

The Supercoppa italiana 2020 will be Ps5 Supercup After Coppa Italia Coca Cola, another international title sponsor

The 2020 Supercoppa Italiana will be called PS5 Supercup, a nomination that will be introduced for the next edition, scheduled for January 20, 2021 at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia between Naploli Calcio and Juventus. After the Coppa Italia, whose naming rights were ceded to Coca Cola - and therefore it will be called Coppa Italia Coca Cola -, the League introduced an important title sponsor also in the other Italian sporting event, for which PlayStation5 will be on the graphics and logo of the next Italian Super Cup. The agreement between the Serie A League and Sony Interactive Entertainment Italia will give a lot of international visibility to the match, but it will also recall the recent launch of the PS5, released last November 19th and around which has been created a singular reselling phenomenon.

The improvement of the brand image of Italian football has seen in the last two years several fundamental initiatives, such as this one with PlayStation and the other with Coca Cola, which are linked to a decades-long tradition of international activity. In fact, in the last 10 years, the Italian Super Cup has been played abroad for six times (in order, twice in Beijing and once in Doha, Shanghai, Jeddah and Riyadh) and also the Serie A has for years had an important title sponsor, TIM, which has been linked to the name of the Italian championship since 1998 (and will be so until 2021). In addition, from this year, the Serie A League has accepted the 1.7 billion offer of the CVC-Advent-Fsi group, which will become a shareholder for 10% of the top Italian tournament and contribute to its better marketing.

The issue of title sponsors is a very important dynamic in modern's football, but it is not a new phenomenon. In fact, since the last century tournaments have had companies that pay to match their name to that of a league - such as Barclays Premier League or La Liga Santander - and in recent years, especially in England, there has been an increase. The FA Cup is called the Emirates FA Cup, the English Carabao Cup and, in 2019, the Community Shield final was sponsored by McDonalds.
