The new Under Armor One "Origin" for Joel Embiid

The new Under Armor One Origin for Joel Embiid Cameroon, Kansas, Phila in the 76ers player personal process

The NBA scene right now is dominated by the upcoming Finals between the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers. But while the greats are competing for the title, the rest of the teams don't stand still. The teams do not stand still nor the players. This is the case of Joel Embiid, center of the Philadelphia 76ers, who launched his first signature shoes with Under Armor. The UA Embiid One "Origin" finally arrives on the market - with some delay compared to the date set months ago. Mr. Process, as everyone in Philly now calls him, signed a 5-year contract with the Baltimore-based brand in October 2018, making him one of the richest players in terms of endorsement revenues.

In the One "Origin" shoe there is really everything: the colors of his Africa and his Cameroon, a tribute to North America that welcomed him when he was little more than a boy and other places that were part of his very personal "process" such as Yaounde (Cameroon), Johannesburg, Kansas and Philadelphia. The shoe incorporates UA HOVR ™ technology in the heel, which offers an extra boost of energy when moving on the court. The innovative Micro G® cushioning system is present in the soles and guarantees, even to a player of 213 centimeters and 127 kilos, to move more quickly and explosively.

Under Armor first involved Embiid and partnered him with designer Reggie Wilson. The two have worked hard in recent years on this project and the creators say they are very satisfied with the work.

"Joel was involved in every step of the way - from developing his logo to deciding what city names to include on the outsole. Early on, he shared his journey with us. In later meetings, he was heavily involved in colorway selections. I think that was one of his favorite parts of the experience."

From the photos of the projects it is perfectly clear how much research, innovation and aesthetics work went into the new edition of the Embiid One, available all over the world starting from 2 October on underarmour.com.
