The new PUMA Away-kit for Manchester City 2020-21

Inspired to the city and the Industrial Revolution

The new PUMA Away-kit for Manchester City 2020-21 Inspired to the city and the Industrial Revolution

A few weeks after the debut of the new shirt for the season 2020-21, the home-kit dedicated to the mosaics of Mark Kennedy, PUMA Football and Manchester City also presented the latest version of the away t-shirt. The new jersey takes up the path already taken by the Home-kit in the celebration of the city of Manchester and its history: its design features an all-over tone-on-tone printed motif combined with shades of black and bronze, in homage to the Castlefield neighborhood and the historic Bridgewater canal.

Although its foundation dates back to Roman times, Castlefield is the part of Manchester that best tells the city's recent history: at the time of the Industrial Revolution, the neighborhood became the terminus of the first artificial canal in the world (the Bridgewater canal, of course) and the first interurban railway. The area has now been transformed into one of the city's liveliest artistic and musical centers, as well as home to Manchester's multicultural youth scene.

Therefore, PUMA once again for the design-tribute to the symbols of the city of the team it describes. Before Manchester's home kit for 2020-21, it had already happened with Borussia Dortmund, Marseille and presumably with the Slavia Praga kit.

With this kit we wanted to celebrate the culture of the city," said David Bremond, Head of Product Line Management Teamsport Licensed; "We looked for places where people come together to explore their creativity through art and music. Castlefield is rich with history and significance to the city; it truly connects with cultural youth scene and creative roots. The bridge over the canal is an iconic design, which inspired us to bring this classic structure to life through the pattern and the color palette of the new jersey. We wanted the jersey to feel special and unique to fans, and celebrate Manchester’s rich culture.
