The Nike kits of the Paris Saint-Germain 2020/2021

Paris Saint-Germain celebrates the 50th anniversary of the club's birth by unveiling simultaneously the first and second Nike kits for the 2020/2021 season.

At the center of the design of the first shirt is the wide red strip, designed by the CEO of the time, as well as stylist, Daniel Hetcher who took on the managerial role in 1973, when ''Les Parisiens'' were still an amateur team. Legend has it that Hechter was so impressed with the distinctive red stripe of the Ajax uniform, that he used it as inspiration for the PSG kit, although he obviously changed the color to match it with the French flag.

"The Hechter strip is a special symbol for PSG and I think it is right to wear a classic version for this important anniversary," says defender Marquinhos. "It's amazing to think of all the famous kits and the great players who wore them - now it's time for this team to make their own story wearing this beautiful design".

The 2020-21 home shirt therefore has a thick red vertical stripe separated by two other white stripes on a blue background, a design that has not been seen since 2011. To give a further nostalgic value to the uniform with references to the 70s, it was placed a V-neck and the edges on the sleeves.

The phrase "Paris Saint-Germain 50 Ans" appears on the blue border that runs along the sides of the shirt, while a small tricolor on the edge of the shirt offers further elegant detail. Blue shorts and socks complete the kit.

The new away shirt also features a noteworthy ''Hechter stripe'', this time taking inspiration from the white kit worn during the 1995-96 season, when ''Les Parisiens'' conquered their first European title, a cup of the Cups. The central red strip is bordered blue, with a collar of the same color fixed by two central buttons.

"We wanted to celebrate 50 years of football and fashion at PSG with the club and that could only mean the return of Hechter's daring streak" said Scott Munson, vice president of Nike Football Apparel.
