The project of the new district of San Siro Populous and Manica-Sportium together to restore value to the Milan district

A month ago we showed the two concepts of the new San Siro stadium that the Populous and Manica-Sportium studios presented at Inter and Milan and the Municipality of Milan. As anticipated, in addition to the stadium, a real sports district will be built - which will also include parts of the current Meazza - which will be made available to the Milanese community.

"The new district of San Siro has the aim of revaluing the existing system and re-stitching the urban fabric of the neighborhood by returning an area of excellence destined to become a model of a healthy lifestyle in Milan. The Meazza Stadium will become the heart of the new district dedicated to sport and entertainment, for the community and the city of Milan. As requested by the Clubs, the new projects plan to keep the ramps of the East Tribune, part of the North and / or South Curves and one of the towers'' explain the clubs.

''Parts of the red beams of the roof can be used to create sculptures and works of art to be placed on the site. Sports, recreational and cultural activities will be found both outside and inside the redeveloped spaces. The other private functions will instead be located within the qualified spaces. Out of a total of 261,000 square meters of intervention area, the total pedestrian area open to the community is 220,000 square meters, of which 106,000 square meters are green''.

The San Siro district will therefore become in all respects a worldwide reference point for sport and entertainment, with the aim of repairing a fracture in the urban urban fabric, by redeveloping the area through the creation of pedestrian spaces green, accessible to all and aimed at creating a place of aggregation, sharing and inclusion and indoor and outdoor facilities, with services dedicated to sport, leisure and culture.

This is an area that will remain open 365 days a year, with many of the planned activities that will be free of charge or agreed with the Municipality and City Hall in favor of residents, traders, associations and local organizations, schools and health facilities that can promote specific programs to as needed.

Sports, recreational and cultural activities have also been defined following a careful market analysis on the level of popularity for the community and, for now, those taken into consideration most for the implementation are a running track, a skateboard park, an outdoor gym, a soccer field and a basketball court, a children's playground, an amphitheater, a zip line, a climbing wall and finally a museum that will cover the history of the ''old'' Meazza . An area dedicated to parkour, one for paddle, an adventure park and a technology hub remain in the evaluation phase.
