The 100 highest paid athletes of 2020 according to Forbes Neither footballers nor basketball players on the throne

One of the most anticipated lists of the year, drawn up by the most influential website on the subject. Forbes has just released the list of the 100 highest paid athletes of 2020 and in the first place there is neither a footballer nor a basket, not even a pilot or a boxer. In first place, after finishing fifth last year, there is Roger Federer, the Swiss tennis player who has 20 Grand Slams on the bulletin board and in 2020 he earned the beauty of 106.3 million dollars. Accustomed to unbeatable records, Roger wanted to destroy one that lasted for 30 years: he is the first tennis player to excel in this ranking.

Of these 106.3 million, 94% (approximately 100 million) come from the sponsorships that tennis player # 4 of the world has added to an already enormous heritage. Overcoming the competition from players who have pharaonic salaries like Ronaldo (second) and Messi (third) is truly incredible. After the Juventus striker and the Barca star, there are Neymar with 95.5 million and Lebron James with 88.2 million to complete a nearly 500 million top5.

Just outside Olympus, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Kirk Cousins and Carson Wentz complete the top 10 of the highest paid athletes. In terms of sport, however, the NBA leads with 35 players out of 100, followed closely by the NFL with 31. On the other hand, in football terms, we find Momo Salah at #34 (35.1 million), Kylian Mbappé at #36 (33.8 million), Mesut Ozil at #49 (28.7 million), Paul Pogba at #50 (28.5 million), Oscar at #56 (27.5 million), Antoine Griezmann at #60 (26.7 million), David De Gea at #67 (25.7 million), Alexis Sanchez at #69 (25.6 million), Gareth Bale at #73 (25.2 million) and Sergio Ramos at #100 (21.8 million).

The only women on the list are two other tennis players: Naomi Osaka (37.4 million) and Serena Williams (36 million), with the former having outperformed the latter as the highest paid sportswoman of 2020. In total, the 100 athletes on the list earned 3.6 billion in the past year, 9% less than the previous year. Click here to see the complete list.
