Dating back to 1851, the America's Cup is known as the oldest trophy in international sport and has become the setting for the most spectacular rivalries in the sailing world. Now, as the 36th edition of the "Auld Mug" approaches, the Swiss watch manufacturer OMEGA announces its role as the official supplier of the event's chronometers.

After the America's Cup in 2000 and 2003, for the third time in history OMEGA will cover this prestigious role in 2021, bringing with it a long experience in sailing that will be highlighted even more through new technologies and equipment never seen before.

In addition, the 2021 edition will be a special occasion for OMEGA to celebrate its partnership with the Emirates New Zealand Team, a relationship that began in 1995 with the legendary skipper Sir Peter Blake due to the shared passion for innovation, technology, speed and precision.

Commenting on the formalities of the deal, OMEGA President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann said: ''The America's Cup has a very special place within the OMEGA brand. From engineering and precision, to competitive energy and history, every part of it appeals to our spirit. We are very excited about our role for next March and also about being able to be on board the New Zealand Emirates team again''.

Team Emirates CEO Grant Dalton says: "We have been working with OMEGA for many years and have respected their high standards of excellence. We know they will bring a lot of experience to the event. At the same time as this announcement, there is also the release of the brand new OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 36th America's Cup Limited Edition, presented on a structured rubber strap, it is a 43.50 mm watch made of stainless steel and is limited to only 2,021 pieces .

The watch's shiny white ceramic dial includes the special America's Cup logo on the central second hand, as well as the name of the competition at 6 o'clock. On the back, the America's Cup logo is transferred to the sapphire crystal of the caseback, through which you can see the mechanism of the OMEGA Master Chronometer Caliber 8900.
