Football Shirt Collective relaunches The 84 The shirt to raise awareness on the issue of suicide

Football Shirt Collective is ready to release the limited edition shirt "The 84", already on the market in 2018, when the founder Mike Maxwell had involved Inaria Soccer and had amazed the world with his noble initiative. The project involved the creation of a shirt for a fundraiser that takes the name of CALM, an acronym for Campaign Against Living Miserably.

The story behind the shirt is significant: the design shows 84 rhombuses / squares, representing the people who decide to take their lives in the UK every week. According to 2018 data, in fact, on average 125 people commit suicide every 7 days, 75% of whom are male. Here the number 84 - also printed on the back of the shirt - becomes the central point of the Football Shirt Collective awareness campaign.

The almost unexpected success of the first release (all 40 jerseys produced in one day sold) led the partners to reflect on a possible encore. Bis that has been made official in the last few hours, to make the population even more aware of the rough issue of suicide. Once again CALM combines sports design with social commitment, just as it has for two years now, when a free and anonymous support and webchat service was also launched, operating from 17:00 to midnight, 365 days a year. CALM receives 12,000 calls and webchat every month and in 2019 directly prevented 588 suicides.

"Once again we are delighted to have partnered with Football Shirt Collective," explained Simon Gunning, CEO of CALM. "In this unprecedented and uncertain situation, CALM's 'life-saving' services are more necessary than ever, so it is essential to be ready and share our love of football to support CALM assistance services that have seen an increase of 37% of demand in the past two weeks".

Mike Maxwell's words also arrive: "At times like these, when everyone is stuck at home and people are more isolated than normal, charities like CALM need our support more than ever. We are truly proud of the re-release of the 'The 84' and even more people can appreciate this initiative and that more money can be raised for CALM".

The limited edition "The 84" shirt is available on footballshirtcollective.com and will ben ready to ship in June.
