ASICS and Kiko Kostadinov present the new GEL-KIRIL ™

The new collaboration between the Bulgarian designer and the Japanese brand

ASICS and Kiko Kostadinov present the new GEL-KIRIL ™ The new collaboration between the Bulgarian designer and the Japanese brand

The GEL-KIRIL™, the fifth sneaker in collaboration between ASICS and Kiko Kostadinov, is the first of the series in which the Bulgarian designer wanted to create a new unique silhouette in detail, trying to maintain the sporty DNA of ASICS using a directional sole. This model, within the Kostadinov spring / summer 2020 campaign, offers a new visual identity to the partnership.

At first glance, attention is captured by the overlapping checkerboard in relief on the upper, then falling on the reflective style and contrasting panels present throughout the ready-to-wear collection. This is a challenge, the one launched by Kostadinov, which ASICS Stripe Design has accepted very well, giving life to a new distinctive aesthetic. FLYTEFOAM Propel™ technology acts as a placeholder for the lacing system and indicates the direction it aspires to a new level of aerodynamics. ASICS' historic GEL™ technology is instead positioned within the midsole to improve the dispersion of force upon impact with the ground. The ASICS spiral logo, inclined in an asymmetrical corner, is moved on the heel.

Although we had already seen it here, on January 18, during Paris Men's Fashion Week, there was the official pre-launch of the entire collection, equipped with 3 colorways, at the historic Parisian store The Broken Arm.

However, the 3 colors will have different release dates: the Cilantro/white version will be marketed tomorrow, February 8. Followed by the Black/Carrier Gray, to be released on February 28 and finally the Ice Mint/Yellow coloring on April 18.
